“For you are a holy people to the Lord your God, and the Lord has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.” Deuteronomy 14:2
Moses continues his address to Israel prior to them crossing the Jordan. Here, he reminds them of 2 things; you are Holy, and, you are Chosen. Essentially, because they were Chosen, they would be Holy. God had chosen the Jews “out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth”, and now that they were His Possession, He prescribed how they would live!
It’s the same for us today. God has chosen us out of this Present Evil Age and instructed us how “we” are to live. The only difference is, He has given us a New Heart that loves this arrangement and wants to conform to it.
