Read 1 Kings 20-22

“But Jehoshaphat said, “Is there not yet a prophet of the Lord here that we may inquire of him?”” 1 Kings 22:7

Israel and Judah forge an alliance, one that would prove counterproductive to Judah. Ahab has asked Jehoshaphat to help in battle and been given a favorable response by 400 of Israel’s Prophets. But he prefers a more certain Word; a Word from Yahweh! You’re probably familiar with the rest. He’s instructed quite vividly by Micaiah, one of the True Prophets of the LORD, pronouncing Ahab’s doom if he goes. But go they will, and Ahab is killed in battle as prophesied.

So then, why did Jehoshaphat go? We aren’t told, and shouldn’t speculate, but it was not a good or wise decision. Lesson? You pray, you ask for God’s Will, you read your Bible, get counsel, and may have a good idea of what God is saying. Do you Obey? I’ll just leave it there!
