“Now these were the sons of David who were born to him in Hebron: the firstborn was Amnon, by Ahinoam the Jezreelitess; the second was Daniel, by Abigail the Carmelitess;” 1 Chronicles 3:1
This is the 1st verse of my reading today, somewhat typical of Chronicles; lots of names and some obscure stories. Notice here, the 2nd son of David, Daniel, born to Abigail; the only reference of him in the entire Bible! We do read quite a bit about Amnon, David’s 1st, Absalom, his 3rd, and Adonijah, his 4th. A Royal Son, who may have been King after Amnon’s murder, but never mentioned again. I find that absolutely fascinating!
This reminds me of a line from one of my favorite Hymns; “Content to fill a little space, if thou be glorified”. This epitomizes what every one of us should really see. That it is CHRIST that is important, and not us!!!
