“All these, being men of war who could draw up in battle formation, came to Hebron with a perfect heart to make David king over all Israel; and all the rest also of Israel were of one mind to make David king.” 1 Chronicles 12:38
This verse summarizes the gathering of the Army, previously under Saul’s leadership, to David. Mighty Men of War, but also Men of undivided heart! This is mentioned 3 times today; as soldiers of Judah and Benjamin leave Saul, of Zebulun’s Militia in particular, and here, of everyone in general.
Isn’t this the picture of Christ and His Church? We see and sense our need to leave one Allegiance, the World and the Devil, and follow another, Christ and His People! Our former Master was cruel and heartless, but our New One is Kind and has captured our hearts. Oh God, unite our hearts to fear your Name!!!
