“Then Nathan said to David, “Do all that is in your heart, for God is with you.”” 1 Chronicles 17:2
David has just brought the Ark to Jerusalem. As he looks about him in his house of cedar, tells Nathan he would like to make a house for God. The verse today is Nathan the Prophet’s response. However, that night God would speak differently.
How do we view this? Did God change His mind? Did Nathan speak in error? I don’t think Nathan was being a “Yes Man”, or speaking rashly. He was a good and wise counselor to David. This is what he thought was best at the time. But it was not what God wanted. He did get it wrong! Isaiah would ask years later, “who has known the mind of the Lord?”. No One! This was one of those times. May God give us wisdom, but also a heart set to seek Him and His will above all else
