“Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people, for who can rule this great people of Yours?” 2 Chronicles 1:10
We are told at the beginning of 2 Chronicles, Solomon “established himself securely over his kingdom”. He then gathered the Leaders to Gibeon to seek the Lord, offering a thousand burnt offerings. God appeared to him that night and said, “Ask what I shall give you”. Today’s Verse is what he asked for. He realized that he “lacked” these essential needs to accomplish his role as King, and that was his request.
We too, as the People of God, need Wisdom and Knowledge. The whole book of Proverbs has been given to us so that we can grow “wiser” and more “knowledgeable”. How foolish we would be if we did not avail ourselves of something so valuable!!!
May God grant us a heart like Solomon’s!
