“Now in the time of his distress this same King Ahaz became yet more unfaithful to the Lord.” 2 Chronicles 28:22
Ahaz was one of the 1st Apostate Kings of Judah. Though both his father, Jotham, and grandfather, Uzziah, were Good Kings, he started bad and ended worse. Early on in his reign, Aram had defeated him, and so he reasoned “Because the gods of the kings of Aram helped them, I will sacrifice to them that they may help me.” But we’re told “they became the downfall of him and all Israel.”
One of the consequences of Rejecting God is underscored here. To have the Truth, and to trade it for “anything” else, will only unravel further and further until destruction. How Tragic for Ahaz, and others like him, to end up with a Train Wreck of a life on earth, and then Hell for eternity!
