“There had not been celebrated a Passover like it in Israel since the days of Samuel the prophet;” 2 Chronicles 35:18a
Josiah, the last of the Good Kings, was the most fervent in his desire to please God and bring his people back to Him. Today’s verse makes that abundantly clear in the celebration of the Passover. Since Samuel, “there had not been”! Not David, not Solomon, not Hezekiah, had Celebrated the Passover like Josiah.
When we consider what is at the root of this, is it not a total abandonment to Keeping God’s Word? Yes, David was a Man after God’s own heart; yes, Solomon sacrificed more animals than could be numbered; yes, Hezekiah kept the Passover for 2 weeks once; but Never had it been celebrated like this! Let Josiah’s Zeal be an example to all of us of “how” we should Honor His Word, and thus, Worship Him!!!
