Read Psalm 21-25

“My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?” Psalm 22:1

Each time I read this Psalm, and other passages like it, I try to picture what the writer was going through. David suffered immense persecution by both his King and by his son! Much of what is written about his life and reign are written while he was persecuted. I’m sure there were many times when he asked God this very Question.

But God had a Purpose! God had a Plan! David would have a distant Ancestor who during His time of intense suffering and persecution would quote this very verse! He would be called “the Son of David” and would fulfill this Psalm, Isaiah 53, and many other passages. He truly would be forsaken by God as He who knew no Sin became Sin for us! Thank God David suffered and wrote these words, but thank God for the One who fulfilled them so we would not have to!!!
