“David said to his men, “Each of you gird on his sword.”” 1 Samuel 25:13a
David just sent 10 men to Nabal to request food. He was shearing sheep, which usually included feasting. He thought since they had been “a wall of protection” to his shepherds, he would share some of their bounty. Nabal refuses, and this was David’s reaction.
God chooses sinful men and women as His People. David is no exception. Here we see him responding in a violent, angry way. Totally Unacceptable! But God intervened. He sent Abigail, Nabal’s wife, to prevent the shedding of innocent blood. Just like David, we are Sinful! But thankfully, God has sent someone to Intervene for us too.
His Name is Jesus!!!
