Read Exodus 28-31

“For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day there is a Sabbath of complete rest, holy to the Lord; whoever does any work on the Sabbath day must be put to death.” Exodus 31:15

In Chapter 20, the 10 Commandments are given to Moses. Here, we have some commentary on the 4th. Notice what God says: We “may” work for 6 days, but “must” rest on the 7th, and it is to be “complete rest”, a Holy Day. Any denial about this? I think it’s clear.

To violate it was a Capital Offense and carried with it the Death Penalty. Again, very clear! Why is it then, not part of Christian thinking today? If this is how God views it, how can today’s Christian not regard it Special? Thoughts to ponder for today!
