“I have heard many such things; Sorry comforters are you all.” Job 16:2
Job has finished hearing his 3 friends respond. Today’s verse summarizes his reaction. As stated previously, each of these men sat with Job for 7 days in silence to grieve with him; they even “raised their voices and wept”. Initially, they appeared to be caring and concerned friends. But when the time came for what Job really needed, Comfort, not Counsel, they Failed!!!
So far in Job, we see 2 things that can’t be over emphasized and are truly Life Lessons. The 1st, Choose your friends well. When times get hard, you don’t want these kind! And 2nd, if you are one of those Friends, “Be quick to hear and Slow to speak”.
