“and all the people were attentive to the book of the law.” Nehemiah 8:3b
The Wall has been completed and the People of God gather in Jerusalem “as one man”. And what brought them together? The Word of God! If there was one thing the Jews had learned from their Captivity, it was the Extreme Importance of the Law and their need to keep it. And what characterized those that had come? They “were attentive to the book of the law”! There was a Hunger and a Longing associated with it that could not be satisfied in any other way.
Have you been delivered from the Babylon Captivity of this present Evil Age? Does your Heart respond in the same way to your Bible Reading each day? Can you say with Job, “I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food.”? May God make it so!!!
