“Where there is no guidance the people fall, but in abundance of counselors there is victory.” Proverbs 11:14
As Solomon wrote this, no doubt he considered his father’s previous rule; perhaps even King Saul’s. Their kingdoms were either successful, or failed, as they chose to seek, or not seek, counsel. Even the wisest man that lived surrounded himself with counselors (1 Kings 12:6). These Kings experienced success or failure based on this truth!
And so it is for the Christian today. He can choose to be an autonomous and independent thinker, and Fail, or he can seek out several wise and learned “counselors” and Succeed! We are surrounded by these today; Parents, Pastors, godly Church Members, Siblings, and Friends. Why would we ever do otherwise?
